The Great MN Governor’s Race 2010: Preliminary Results

With 95.77% of precincts reporting, the vote stands at:

Mark Dayton (DFL) – 901,981 votes – 43.67%

Tom Emmer (teapartier) – 891,726 – 43.18%

Tom Horner (running as an Independent) – 246,456 – 11.93%

In U.S. House races with 95.77% of precincts reporting, all incumbents except Jim Oberstar are currently leading:

District 1: Tim Walz (DFL) 49.27% / Randy Demmer (R) 44.16% / Steven Wilson (I) 5.30%

District 2: John Kline (R) 63.31% / Shelly Madore (D) 36.59%

District 3: Erik Paulsen (R) 58.80% / Jim Meffert (D) 36.57% / Jon Oleson (I) 4.56%

District 4: Betty McCollum (D) 59.09% / Teresa Collet (R) 34.63% / Steve Carlson 6.14%

District 5: Keith Ellison (DFL) 67.69% / Joel Demos (R) 24.14% / Tom Schrunk (I) 3.25%

District 6: Michele Bachmann (R) 52.48% / Tarryl Clark (DFL) 39.81% / Bob Anderson (I) 5.83%

District 7: Collin Peterson (DFL) 55.53% / Lee Byberg (R) 37.22% / Glen Menze (I) 3.29%

District 8: Chip Cravaack (R) 48.25% / James L. Oberstar (DFL) 46.53% / Timothy Olson (I) 4.27%

This being a mid-term year with a Democratic president, as well as Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, elections across the country were the Republicans’ to lose; it was expected that the House majority would go to the Republicans (it has), and plausible for the Senate to do the same (it has not as of the time of this writing).

Secretary of State: Incumbent Mark Ritchie (DFL) 49.15% / Dan Severson (R) 45.62% / Jual Carlson (I) 5.16%

State Auditor: Incumbent Rebecca Otto (DFL) 48.45% / Pat Anderson (R) 47.09% / Annie Young (Green) 2.67% / Ken Kalligher (Grassroots) 1.74%

Attorney General : Incumbent Lori Swanson (DFL) 52.94% / Chris Barden (R) 41.25% / Bill Dahn (I) 5.04%
